The Decent Work & Labour Standards Forum has agreed that Forum membership and activities will be guided by the following principles:

  • A shared understanding that decent work, and a focus on labour conditions and workers’ rights, is a key approach in combating poverty
  • A commitment to promote decent work and raise working conditions and rights in own sphere of influence
  • An acknowledgement of the rights to decent work of workers in the North as well as the global South
  • Support for the principle that there should be no trade-off between the quality of jobs and job creation
  • A commitment to actively participate in Forum activities and to collaborate with other Forum stakeholders, respecting the perspectives of other members, in order to achieve decent working conditions
